Denver Day 3!

On our 3rd day in Denver, we headed to Colorado Springs to the Cheyenne Mt. Zoo.  It is literally a zoo in the mountains, and one of the best we have been to! The views, unbelievable, the animals, up close and personal, and probably the coolest Reptile house ever. Besides feeding giraffes, the kids had a wallaby leave its exhibit area to say hello, and they even touched a tarantula. We finished our visit with a ride on the "sky ride"--aka a ski lift that takes you up the mountain and over the whole zoo. The kids loved seeing the animal exhibits from the air.  On the way back we stopped at the Garden of the Gods. The rock formations were unbelievable and left me breathless. It was so beautiful and peaceful. The kids really enjoyed exploring and climbing the rocks, while Scott and I couldn't stop taking pictures! I wished we had more time there, but after walking at the zoo all day in the mountains the kids were pooped.  Again, thanks to Kristen for the suggestion! After naps in the car, the kids were ready to swim at the pool.  I seriously think my kids could live in water...it was the perfect ending to a great day.

The wallaby that seriously came right up to the kids. It was so cool!

This picture doesn't even begin to capture the beauty of this exhibit....all the reptiles were in glass  with marbles, crystals, pottery, sand, just a unique twist instead of the usual dark lit reptile houses.  I felt like I was in an art museum!

Tyler had absolutely no hesitation in touching this.....

Hailey just loves the giraffes.

Beautiful....

Denver Day Two

Our second day in Denver was busy!  We headed to the Georgetown Loop, which was an amazing little train ride in the mountains. The station itself was gorgeous...seeing snow in the mountains, the rickety old bridge, cute little stream running through, the picture opportunities were phenomenal. I think I took at least 50 pictures! The ride was fine, it was just a train, but when we crossed on the bridge, well I didn't look down for sure! The kids had a blast which is the important part.  On our way back we stopped at this random sweet shop!(thanks Kristen for sure on this one!) The kids, Scott and I all devoured amazing milkshakes. Seriously random, but oh so good! On a whim, we decided to go to a Colorado Rockies game.  We walked right up, got tickets(with a food credit!) and enjoyed a day at the ball park.  It was super kid friendly....a couple play areas, in addition to batting cages, pitching games, and overall a great experience.  Ty was able to walk right up and check out the bullpen! It was so great! We grabbed a quick dinner, and it was another night of swimming at the pool!

They were so excited..and yes, that is the bridge we went on!

Denver Day One

At the beginning of May, we headed to Denver for a quick family vacation. It was nice to visit someplace new, and the kids were just so excited to take an airplane and stay at a hotel with a pool. My good friend Jen has a twin sister who lives out there, so after a few emails she gave some great suggestions of places to go and things to see. Thanks Kristen!!!
The first day we headed to Dinosaur Ridge. We figured after the plane ride the kids could use some run around/exploring time.  The best part, it was free!!! The kids were able to see fossils, touch dinosaur bones, and pan for treasure. The view was amazing as well. What a neat place to go! It was a great way to start our trip!
checking out tracks in the rocks

so sweet, they loved walking together

ask the kids about their treasures....
